The Owl Logo

Logo of the Joan White Howell Environmental Education Center

The symbol of the Joan White Howell Environmental Education Center. When
we first visited Clay Hill Memorial Forest, we heard owls hooting in the wood.
The logo was adapted from an original oil painting by Dorthy Maurice Weddle.
The image was painted on a piece of driftwood found along the Ohio River
near Vevay, Indiana. The painting was completed when Dorthy was 80 years old.
